Evelyn Mae Higgins, 75, formerly of Attica and West Lafayette, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 1995 at the Hi-Desert Medical Center, Joshua Tree, Calif. She was born in Attica on March 16, 1920, the daughter of Alexander and Lida (Wood) Brown. She had lived in Joshua Tree for 43 years. She was raised in Attica and had lived for a few years in West Lafayette, before returning to Joshua Tree. Mrs. Higgins attended Attica High School and was a homemaker. She was first married on April 11, 1936 in Attica to Ralph E. Anderson. He died in 1979. On Sept. 18, 1984 she married John Thomas Higgins in San Diego, Calif. He died in 1989. Surviving, are: two sons, Malcolm H. Anderson of Yucca Valley, Calif. and Walter Darrell Anderson of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, a brother and a sister. Graveside services and inurnment will be held in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif. on Friday, Dec. 8 with Rev. Larry Orr officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Fund or the Arthritis Foundation. Wiefels & Son Funeral Directors, Yucca Valley, Calif., in charge of arrangements. – jlr
